Cedar Lake Park

Cedar Lake is part of the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes, connected to Brownie Lake at the north end and Lake of the Isles along the east side. Trails connect the Point Beach to the South Beach and East Beach, but the distance between the East and South beaches is all but impassable with a stroller (residential streets with blind curves and no sidewalks, and the nearest trail at the channel features brick stairs).

The most secluded section of the park is found at the northeast corner of the lake, where neighborhood gives way to woodland trails and winding bike paths along open prairie. My favorite route begins at the point beach and winds northeast around to the east beach before winding back along some rougher parallel path west to the point beach, but these paths are mostly impassable for strollers. On the western side of the lake, a path along the parkway can be followed very near the shoreline. These paths between the south beach and the point beach are easy traveled with a stroller, and the point beach has an excellent loop to hop out of the stroller and walk a bit!
