Eagle Lake – Maple Grove, MN

Eagle Lake in Maple Grove is a beautiful place to kayak, and a quick jaunt across from the boat launch will bring through a grassy channel into neighboring Pike Lake, but it’s the walk over the channel that has my heart.  A cul-de-sac at the end of Eagle Lake Drive has no street parking but some lovely trails behind the neighborhood will bring you down to the trailhead where you’ll begin a enchanting walk between the cattails, willows, and birch trees of the marsh!  Stop on the channel bridge to watch the grasses sway in the breeze and then visit the secluded and unpaved park space on the next peninsula.  There is no path that goes all the way around Eagle Lake and a lack of sidewalks in the neighborhoods make it a trying venture even without a stroller.   I like to walk a loop of the peninsula and then enjoy the new perspectives of a walk back down the beautiful strip to the cul-de-sac.
