Stricker’s Pond, Madison, WI

This large pond is very near Tiedeman’s Pond Conservatory in the Madison area. On the southwestern edge of the pond, the foot path winds through the woods. Keep an eye out for pretty (but inedible) wild ginger along the forest floor. A playground can be found along the path at the northwest corner of the pond. On the east end of the pond, there is no footpath and walkers are relegated to the neighboring sidewalk on Middleton Street. At the south end of the park, another footpath cuts between pond and wetlands. While visiting this pond, keep an eye out for sandhill cranes, herons, and American toads.
